Evicting Table Data from Memory

You can configure tables with least recently used (LRU) eviction and expiration to manage the amount of data that is managed in memory in a GemFire XD distributed system. You can choose whether to remove evicted data from the GemFire XD system (reducing the size of the total data set) or to persist the evicted data in disk store operational log files so that the data can be reloaded as needed to satisfy future queries.

Note: Most of the techniques in this section can be used only with non-HDFS peristent tables. Only the EXPIRE clause can be used with HDFS tables. See Defining Operational Data with EVICTION BY CRITERIA for more details about managing in-memory data for HDFS-persistent tables.
